Connection Across Life Transitions

What does it look like for a community to support its members during life's biggest transitions? How can we reinvent or remember rites of passage? Does the context of a specific place shape these practices?

During this virtual event, we will hear from three organizations that support their local communities through major life transitions: into adulthood, parenthood, and aging or retirement.

  • Jordan Bowman is the Executive Director at Journeymen. Journeymen supports boys in the transition from adolescence to adulthood with mentorship and rites of passage in Wake County, North Carolina.

  • Melanie Roper and Swarnima Aswinkumar are leaders at PEPS, connecting new parents with peer learning and community support in the Puget Sound region.

  • Frank Williams Jr. and Jim Isenberg, co-founders of Grandpas United.Their coalition connects grandpas with one another while mentoring future generations of youth and new fathers in Westchester County, New York.

The event format will be hands-on with participatory break-out rooms. It will not be recorded.

You can register by filling out this RSVP form. We'll send you a calendar invite with a Zoom link after you fill it out.
